Child Therapy

Growing Up Isn’t Easy

Childhood comes with its own set of struggles — ones kids often don’t yet have the words or tools to express. Parkhill’s child therapists are committed to helping children not just survive difficult periods, but genuinely thrive through them. Using a blend of talk and play-based therapies, our clinicians meet children where they are developmentally, creating a space where big feelings can be explored safely, and where families gain a clearer understanding of what their child needs.

Signs Your Child May Benefit From Therapy

Our Approach

Children often can’t — or won’t — talk through problems the way adults do, so our therapists work creatively, using play therapy, art, storytelling, and age-appropriate talk therapy to help children express what’s happening internally. We consider each child within the context of their whole system: family dynamics, school environment, and developmental stage all shape how we approach treatment. Parents and caregivers are treated as essential partners in the process, not bystanders — we work with you to understand what’s happening at home and to support consistency between sessions.

What to Expect

The process typically begins with an intake conversation with parents or caregivers to understand the concerns and history, followed by sessions with your child that may involve play, art, games, or conversation depending on their age and comfort level. Parents can expect periodic check-ins to discuss progress, patterns observed, and strategies to reinforce at home. Session length and frequency are tailored to your child’s needs, and therapy can be provided in person or via teletherapy.
