Family Therapy

This Takes All Of Us

Every family carries its own strengths and struggles, shaped by history, roles, and the everyday friction of living closely together. Family therapy at Parkhill offers a space for the whole family unit — or any combination of its members — to work through conflict, reconnect, and build healthier patterns of communication. With strategic, collaborative guidance, families can address longstanding tension or navigate a current crisis while strengthening the bonds that hold them together.

Signs Your Family May Benefit From Therapy

Our Approach

Family therapy treats the family as an interconnected system, where each member’s behavior influences — and is influenced by — the others. Our therapists work to identify unhelpful patterns that have taken root over time and help the family collaboratively build new, healthier ways of relating. Sessions are structured to make sure every voice is heard, including children’s, while keeping the focus on shared goals rather than assigning blame to any one member.

What to Expect

Initial sessions typically involve understanding each family member’s perspective on the presenting concerns and family history. From there, your therapist will help identify specific patterns to address and skills to build — whether that’s communication, conflict resolution, or navigating a particular transition. Sessions can include the whole family or a subset, depending on what’s most useful at a given stage, and are generally held weekly or biweekly, in person or via teletherapy.
